Funnier in Latin

Ratings Guide
by Claire of Monkey Perch Studios

After completing a fanfiction one of the important steps to take is correctly rating it. We don't want readers receiving ideas they were not ready for. Sometimes deciding the best rating is hard, so here is my guide - I hope it helps.

[G] Suitable for all : This signifies that the story contains nothing most parents will consider offensive for even their youngest children to see or hear. Nudity, sex scenes, and scenes of drug use are absent; violence is minimal; snippets of dialogue may go beyond polite conversation but do not go beyond common everyday expressions.

[PG] May not be suitable for children : This signifies that the story may contain some material parents might not like to expose to their young children. Explicit sex scenes and scenes of drug use are absent; nudity, if present, is seen only briefly, horror and violence do not exceed moderate levels.

[PG-13] May not be suitable for under 13's : This signifies that the story may be inappropriate for pre-teens and will be inappropriate for young children. Rough or persistent violence is absent; sexually-oriented nudity is generally absent; some scenes of drug use may be seen; one use of the harsher sexually derived words may be heard.

[R] May not be suitable for under 17's : This signifies that the story contains some adult material. An R may be assigned due to, among other things, a story's use of language, theme, violence, sex or its portrayal of drug use.

[NC-17] Over 17's only : This signifies that the story is for adults only. The story may contain explicit sex scenes, an accumulation of sexually-oriented language, or scenes of excessive violence. The NC-17 designation does not, however, signify that the story is obscene or pornographic. If your story is obscene or pornographic use further warnings with the NC-17 rating and point out any items that the reader may not like (slash, bdsm, etc).
